Weekly Drawings
A note about my approach to drawings as standalone artworks: My love of drawing originates in its ability to satisfy the urgency of the artistic impulse. I approach drawing as a triage doctor would treat surgery in the sense that I believe that perfection is the enemy of good. Therefore:
I make drawings to explain things to myself. I think a lot and I forget a lot. So the drawings record things that I at one time or another thought were worth remembering.
I make drawings quickly. Most of my projects are months, if not years in the making. My drawings provide me with the satisfaction of immediate closure as it relates to an idea, regardless of how long I may have been thinking about it.
I make drawings that don't involve seriality. I am not working toward "a show," although I would be happy to show my drawings.
